Syntax Strategies

Rayann Echavez’s journey into the financial sector began with personal curiosity, but it quickly grew into a passion for helping others. Coming from a family of immigrants from the Philippines, financial discussions were uncommon in her household. Despite this, her interest in personal finance blossomed while working as a dental hygienist, leading her to pursue life and health insurance licenses in 2011 and securities licenses in 2015. With these qualifications, Rayann built a team of 33 licensed agents across Hawaii, Alaska, California, Nevada, Virginia, and Oregon, offering financial services and education to clients through World Financial Group.

In early 2024, Rayann founded Syntax Strategies LLC, a financial advisory firm that helps small and mid-sized business owners organize their finances and plan for retirement. Inspired by her work with business owners and her family’s experience in running an automotive business, Rayann established Syntax Strategies to offer personalized financial and tax planning services. Her company aims to help business owners manage their finances effectively and build personal wealth. Though Syntax Strategies operates as a solo venture for now, Rayann’s vision is to form lasting partnerships and provide strategic financial planning that drives sustainable business growth.

Before connecting with YWCA Oʻahu, Rayann faced the common challenges of launching a new business, particularly when it came to developing a business plan and organizing her financials. To address these gaps, she joined the YWahine In Business Incubator, a 7-week course designed to provide new entrepreneurs with the fundamental knowledge to grow and sustain a business. Through the program, Rayann gained invaluable insight into financial management, business operations, and strategic planning. The experience also introduced her to a network of like-minded entrepreneurs, helping her refine her approach to business.

Rayann’s expertise didn’t go unnoticed. After graduating from the Incubator, she was invited to teach the Foundations class at YWCA Oʻahu, where she shared her financial knowledge with other women entrepreneurs. Her role as an instructor allowed her to give back to the community by empowering other entrepreneurs to strengthen their financial foundations and prepare for growth.

“The Incubator was amazing. I really feel like every single person who wants to start a business should take that course because it is so foundational. The Foundations cohort just takes it a little bit deeper with their finances. My experience so far with YWCA Oʻahu has been very humbling. It’s such a great organization for people to come in and make something of themselves, no matter what stage their business is at. There’s always some kind of support,” Rayann says.

Through the support and guidance provided by YWCA Oʻahu, Rayann has been able to organize her business finances more effectively and build a stronger foundation for Syntax Strategies. The connections and knowledge she gained have been instrumental in growing her company and empowering others to achieve financial success. Rayann’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and dedication to supporting small business owners in building lasting wealth.
